The Building of Entertainment, Arts and Media will be a cultural center in East-Harlem, offering a wide variety of arts to a wide variety of people.

As thedramaloft continues to grow, we are in the process of launching
several unique programs including:

Giving playwrights and screenwriters the opportunity to have their works read in a protected, intimate setting,   thedramaloft opens its doors monthly at its East Harlem home as a means to provide both exposure as well as critical   feedback. This series takes a different approach to the conventional “Reading”. With our intensive, development   rehearsal  process with actors, visual artists and the director, the writer gets a minimally staged version of their work   and  tape of the final product (including feedback from the audience discussion). Readings will occur the first Monday   evening of each month.

The A- Lounge is an event that provides an opportunity for artists working with any media, to network with each other   in a relaxed setting as means to strengthen the social fabric of this community that is so vital to New York. The A-   Lounge will highlight the work of different artists of different disciplines. Additionally, keynote speakers will be featured,   discussing the role of the artist in the community, as well as providing professional development advice for participants.

Critical to the mission of thedramaloft is its Creative Development Workshop. Open to individuals of all disciplines by   audition, this extensive program is designed to provide creative and professional training to up-and-coming actors,   writers, directors and performing and visual artists. Participants will be provided with a series of creative acting,   creative    development, self actualization, voice and movement courses and be considered for future productions of   thedramaloft.
